FAQ’s
How do I know if my tyres need replacing?
We recommend monthly tyre checks. If you notice your vehicle doesn’t handle grip or takes longer to stop when you brake then it means your tyres may need replacing. It can be hard to tell when your tyre needs changing as tyre wear is a slow process which is why it is important for vehicle owners to make sure visual checks of their tyres are carried out on a regular basis.
How important is tyre pressure?
The correct tyre pressure is very important and vital for safety, braking, grip and maximising the life of your tyres, providing a more comfortable ride. Did you know having the right tyre pressure makes your fuel go that bit further? Not only does it improve your safety but it also helps you save money. It’s best to check your tyre pressure when the tyres are cold.
Should I fit winter tyres?
Winter tyres accommodate a higher percentage of rubber than standard tyres to ensure they retain grip in low temperatures, they are specially designed to perform in wet, icy weather as well as snowy conditions. If you do a lot of driving or live in a location with severe weather conditions then having winter tyres fitted could be an important and beneficial resource.
What are run flat tyres and can they be repaired?
Run flat tyres are designed to allow you to drive a short distance with a puncture, even when the tyre is completely flat. This is a temporary measure allowing the driver to drive to a safe place to repair or replace the tyre. Big G’s & Exhaust do not recommend that run flat tyres are repaired after running in a deflated condition which could lead to tyre failure.
Can I replace only one tyre at a time?
We recommend all four tyres are best replaced at the same time, although this isn’t always necessary if only one tyre is worn or damaged. However, it can be beneficial replacing two tyres as a pair, either the front two tyres or the back two tyres.
